3 Tips to Keep Your AC Unit from Breaking
With temperature rising and summer just around the corner, keeping your AC unit in proper working order is important for being able to enjoy your summer days. There’s nothing worse than having to sweat through a couple hot days of summer because your AC unit stops working. No cool house to return to, no relief and no fun!
Because we want you to be able to enjoy your summer and not have to deal with a broken AC unit, here are a few steps you can take to ensure your AC unit is in tip-top shape.
Clean Your AC Unit
This is simple and only takes a few minutes. Check on your AC unit outside and make sure it is free of any debris or anything else that might be blocking it. Cut back bushes around it, vacuum out any dust or leaves, and don’t store anything against it or near it to allow it to do it’s job. If you notice anything that doesn’t look right or might be wrong with it, give us a call and we can help diagnose the problem.
Change Your Air Filter
This should be done every 30-60 days, but we are aware that most people don’t do this. If you haven’t changed it recently, be sure to do so. It only costs a few dollars to get an air filter, and it’s one of the easiest things you can do to help maintain the integrity of your entire HVAC system.
Call an AC Technician
Having an AC technician look at your system, maintain it and tune up anything that isn’t working quite right will help considerably. If we can identify a problem before it becomes one, we can save you money and help you keep your AC going through the entire summer.
It’s important to do this before it gets hot. Inevitably, when the temperatures go up, we get a lot of people calling us to fix their AC unit. Unfortunately, sometimes they have to wait a couple days to get it fixed too. Had they done regular maintenance on it before it got hot, they would be able to get it fixed faster and be able to avoid having to endure hot weather with no AC.
If you want to keep your AC unit running strong all summer, be sure to follow these tips and have us come take a look at your HVAC system. We would love to help however we can, so if you have any questions give us a call at 800-994-2577.
